On a holiday in Turkey on the Mediterranean there is not only lots of sun, beach and sea. The cuisine is also one reason why the holiday destination is so popular with Germans. Pide, Gözleme and Köfte are quickly forgotten at home. Because only very few holidaymakers dare to cook Turkish dishes themselves. The oriental delight is usually conjured up on the plate relatively quickly.

Drinks like on vacation in Türkiye? Nothing easier than that!

Of course, Turkish cuisine also includes some delicious drinks. Whether Ayran in the morning or one Tekirdag Raki Gold in the evening. The good news: If you want to enjoy typical Turkish drinks at home on the terrace, a closer look at the supermarket is often enough. You can also prepare the popular yogurt drink yourself without any problems. All you need is natural yogurt, water and salt. Ice-cold, Ayran is not just refreshing. It also helps keep electrolyte levels balanced on hot summer days. If you sweat a lot, the salty yogurt drink is just the thing. After dinner, the popular Raki should not be missed. The spirit not only tastes particularly delicious, but also soothes the gastrointestinal tract.

Make your own Köfte: This is how Turkish meatballs turn out

You can also prepare the Turkish meatballs yourself in your own kitchen without any problems. In Turkey, lamb is often used for kofta. Alternatively, you can simply use ground beef. An important component of the spice mixture is cumin. Without the typical taste, your kofta at home will never taste as good as it did on vacation in Turkey. Paprika powder, freshly chopped onion and parsley can also be used to prepare the spice. Here it always depends on your individual taste. The whole thing is then mixed with the mince and formed into small balls. After about 30 minutes in the fridge, it's ready to go in the pan or on the grill.

Pide is a project for the whole family

Maybe you fell in love with Pide while on vacation in Turkey. The Turkish variation of pizza is a perfect party snack, but can also be served as a delicious dinner with a Mediterranean salad. For authentic pide, you should mix the dough yourself. By the way, this is a project for the whole family, because even the little ones can help out. If you don't have the time, you can also use a ready-made baking mix from the supermarket. The frozen products for the oven have little to do with authentic pide. Here there is usually a lack of seasoning, the dough is too hard and in the end you will probably be disappointed. Once your yeast dough is ready, it's time for the filling. For pide you definitely need minced meat, onion and tomato sauce. Red peppers and garlic should also not be missing from your shopping list. To prevent the dough from becoming too crunchy in the oven, you should brush the edges with egg yolk.

Baking baklava at home: This often doesn't work

While many Turkish recipes can be easily recreated in your own kitchen, sweet baklava is the absolute master discipline. It requires many steps to ensure that the dessert actually tastes authentic. But things will probably never be as good at home as they were on holiday in Turkey. However, you don't have to go without the delicious dessert in Germany either. There are now Turkish supermarkets, especially in larger cities. The small shops also often sell baklava.
